Katherine Phillips Singer, who was one of several people from Mobile featured in Ken Burns film THE WAR several years ago, will be the featured speaker on Tuesday, January 22 for the Richards DAR Museum Foundation's Four Season Lecture Series. Singer, whose late brother Sidney Phillips was also featured in the documentary, will speak about her time as a stewardess with Waterman Airlines. Light refreshments will be available. Donation $15. Eagles are the focus in January and February each year in North Alabama when Lake Guntersville State Park hosts the annual Eagle Awareness weekends, giving birding enthusiasts a chance to learn more about the magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Now in its 34th year, Eagle Awareness is held every weekend from January 25 through February 17, 2019. The weekend events feature live bird demonstrations, interactive programs provided by notable speakers from across the country, guided field trips for viewing eagles in their natural habitat, photography opportunities and activities for children. Back by popular demand, the Brophy Sisters return for the 2018-2019 "Music at Messiah Classical Concert Series." Maeve Brophy on piano and Linnaea Brophy on violin will present a diverse program, including works by Grieg, Still, Boulanger, as well as an original composition! 1st Annual Free Dental Clinic Golf Tournament
Golfers are invited to sign up for Huntsville's 1st Annual Free Dental Clinic Golf Tournament, honoring Colonel William (Bill) Stirling, on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Link at Redstone. Tee off time is 9:00am. Following lunch it's a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. Entry fees are $60 per individual and $240 per team with proceeds benefiting the Community Free Dental Clinic in Huntsville. Fee includes lunch, greens fee and card.
